CDY, Collaborative Performance, 10:00 mins, Coals Drop Yard, London

Collaborative performance done on the ground floor of Coal Drops Yard with Marie Cachat, Haruka Tone and Tianna Beharry. The performers work captioned personalised t-shirts, inhabiting the space by walking around alone, in pairs and as a group, physically bringing the past into the present, through actions that mimics the current inhibitors of the location. Series of text created in response to Coal Drops Yard’s clubbing past were derivatives of the club goer’s experiences and were written from their perspective. The text were then transferred onto a white t-shirt using heat transfer paper, which is then worn part of a performance on the location itself. The voice/perspective of the text brings in the past into the present, but the use of the t-shirt references the current commercial use of Coal Drops Yard.

Viewers are encouraged to begin on top of the bridge in the centre of Coal Drops Yard, giving them an overview of the space and its inhibitors. They are then invited to roam freely or stay where they please, resulting in some following performers and some trying to lead the path creating a sense of friction that gained the attention of other existing inhibitors of the location.
