Nurin Exotic Asian Girl, printed on paper, varying sizes
These ad-like posters were distributed in areas frequently visited by Malaysian tourists in London touching on ideas of the exotification of ones identity in the west and concerns regarding sex tourism. The poster placements were photographed with me in sight and recorded on my Instagram page with corresponding geotags and hashtags to further extend the access and distribution of it within the digital landscape allowing for global access to these ‘information’ of Nurin Exotic Asian Girl. This in addition to me being photographed with the posters, also blurs the line between the reality and believability that is left the the audience’s discretion.
A QR code is also included in the poster to give the audience access to a related video work (Reconfiguration of Childhood) that informs the context of these posters, whilst simultaneously contrasting it.
